Most software wants more of you. We are trying, very seriously, to want less.

Begin with a single sentence.
If the product cannot be described in one breath, it is not ready to be built.

Solve one problem, completely.
A small tool done thoroughly beats a vast platform done halfway.

Default to nothing.
Every pixel, setting, and notification must justify its presence. Empty is the starting position.

Reward attention, not addiction.
No streaks, no badges, no infinite feeds. The app should make itself easier to close.

Hide nothing important.
The thing the user came to do is the first thing they see. No carousels, no onboarding tours.

Make it fast, or do not ship it.
Speed is a feeling. Sixty frames, instant input, no spinners over local work.

Write like a human.
Plain words, short lines, real voice. If a sentence sounds like a sign in an airport, rewrite it.

Respect the device.
Battery, bandwidth, attention, storage — these are borrowed. Treat them as such.

Charge once, fairly.
No dark patterns, no trial mazes, no email walls. A clear price for clear value.

Ship, then subtract.
Version two is almost always smaller than version one. Less is the direction of travel.
One idea, fully held.
Each venture begins with a single, stubborn sentence. If we cannot say it in one breath, we are not ready to build it.
Prototype in a week.
If a thing cannot prove itself in seven days of rough making, it is not the right thing — or not the right time.
Subtract until it sings.
We ship the smallest version that still feels whole, then resist the urge to add. Restraint is the feature.
Design at the edges.
Empty states, errors, the second visit, the slow connection. The middle takes care of itself; the edges decide if people stay.
Quiet by default.
No streaks, no badges, no notifications begging to be opened. The app waits for you, not the other way around.
